About Us.

Dakota is the Founder and President of Sycamore Builders, which he launched in 2021 with a focus on high-performance construction and a commitment to creating lasting value for both the environment and the local community. He holds a degree in Construction Management and comes from multiple generations of craftsmen and builders, a background that continues to shape his practical, detail-driven approach to building.

Dakota is a certified Passive House Builder and a licensed General Contractor with an Unlimited designation in both residential and commercial construction. He serves on Brevard’s City Council Downtown Master Planning Committee, holds a seat on the Board of Directors for the Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is a Platinum Member of the Green Built Alliance, and serves on the Transylvania County Long-Term Recovery Group.

Based in Brevard, Dakota is passionate about building a team that delivers thoughtful, sustainable luxury homes throughout Western North Carolina. Outside of work, he enjoys fly fishing, mountain biking, camping, and spending time with family and friends. Originally from the mountains of Colorado, Dakota moved to Brevard in 2015 and now lives downtown with his wife, Lucy, and their two sons, Parker and Andy.

Katrina is a Brevard local who brings over 15 years of team and business management to our crew. Her experience ranges from small local businesses to large corporate chains and international non-profits. She specializes in developing internal structures and systems to optimize productivity for staff and ease of client experience.

Coming from a family of builders and craftsmen, she has a love for the construction industry. She is passionate about our company being connected to the community through relationship, service, and product.

Away from work, Katrina enjoys being in the woods, art in all of its forms, gardening, and spending time with her friends and family.

Trey has been in the industry since 1992, serving in various roles in the residential and commercial sectors of construction. He studied Construction Management at Georgia Southern University and brings an incredible amount of experience to the Sycamore Builders team. Trey is responsible for all aspects of our production process and develops robust relationships with our trade partners, clients, suppliers, and Sycamore Builders in-house craftspeople. Trey is an avid cyclist and lives in Brevard with his wife, Susan, and his sons, Bode and Hayes.

With more than nine years of experience in the industry specializing in commercial and residential HVAC design and install, Chris brings a unique blend of technical precision and project leadership to our team at Sycamore Builders. Chris excels at technical troubleshooting, team coordination, and client relationship management.

Chris has received his Project Management certification from Gonzaga University and integrates his deep technical knowledge with emerging leadership strategies- making him a strong advocate for our dedication to precision, performance, and quality in every build.

Chris spends his free time coaching little league in Brevard, and lives with his wife Alex and two sons in Mills River, NC.

Zach brings more than a decade of experience in residential construction to the Sycamore team. His background in custom homes, spec homes, remodels, and restorations has given him a deep appreciation for the details that shape a home and how it is lived in. He approaches each project with a commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and intentional execution, working closely with homeowners, architects, designers, and trade partners to ensure every detail reflects the vision for the home. He believes that exceptional homes are the result of thoughtful decisions, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to doing things the right way.

Outside of work, Zach enjoys trout fishing, playing guitar, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and son.

Richie brings a diverse background that blends engineering fundamentals, hands-on craftsmanship, and field leadership. With formal training in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, he began his career applying scientific testing methods in a mechanical lab before transitioning into hands-on building and fabrication work.

Drawn by a passion for problem-solving and fine detail, Richie went on to run a custom camper van business, where he developed expertise in high-end carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, and project execution. That experience naturally led him into residential construction, where he now oversees projects with a strong emphasis on quality, coordination, and buildability.

Based in Brevard, NC, Richie brings a practical, solutions-oriented approach to the jobsite, combining technical knowledge with clear communication and a deep respect for craft. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his partner and daughter, mountain biking, hiking with their dog, and time by the river.
